Mar. 13, 2009- The Lindenwood women’s ice hockey team kept is national championship hopes alive on Friday evening with a 2-1 double overtime victory over Massachusetts.
The Lady Lions trailed most of the game after a first period goal by the fourth ranked team in the country. Lindenwood finally answered in the third when
Lisa Moreau found the back of the net. Neither team scored until the second extra period when
Alexandra Johansson gave Lindenwood the win with a wrist shot from the top slot.
Becca Bernet continued the team’s good goalkeeping by making 31 of 32 saves.
Lindenwood will face No. 7 Minnesota in the semifinal round on Saturday. Those two teams have not met this season.
