The Lindenwood women's gymnastics team put together its best meet in program history on Friday night in Cape Girardeau, Mo. The Lady Lions finished with a team score of 194.700 at the event with in-state rivals Southeast Missouri and Missouri.

Lindenwood finished second in the competition, with a victory over defending MIC Champions, Southeast Missouri. The Redhawks finished with a score of 193.600. Missouri won the state battle with a team score of 195.850.

The Lady Lions set the tone early on the bars, as all six gymnasts scored a 9.7 or higher.
Kierstin Sokolowski,
Aubree Horn, Shayln Garay, and
Trystien Charles all had a 9.7.
Valeri Ingui scored a 9.8, and
Courtney Heise led the team with a 9.85. The final team score of 48.750 was the second-best in program history, and Heise's mark was the third-highest score. Heise finished second overall in that event, and Ingui was fourth.

Lindenwood's biggest problems in 2015 have been on the beam, but the Lady Lions fixed that at Southeast Missouri. The Lady Lions scored a 48.525, which was also the second-best in program history. Ingui led the team by scoring another 9.8, which tied for the eighth-best mark at Lindenwood and was tied for second at the competition. Other high scores were a 9.725 by
Trystien Charles, and a 9.7 by
Rachel Zabawa and
Lauren Cartmell.

On the floor, Lindenwood had its highest team score of the night with a 48.825. Once again, that mark was the second in program history for that event. Lindenwood's Sokolowski and Zabawa each tied for fifth overall with a 9.8.
Hannah Rector and Cartmell each scored a 9.75, and Ingui had a 9.725.

Lindenwood finished on the vault and had a 48.600, which was a new Lindenwood event record. Heise led the team with a 9.85, which tied for third overall at the competition, and was second in school history. Zabawa was second with a 9.775, and Sokolowski had a 9.725.

In the all-around results, Ingui finished fourth with a 38.925 and Sokolowski was fifth with a 38.425. Ingui's mark was the third-best in program history, and Sokolowski's was the 11th-best all-around mark.

The Lady Lions will see the Tigers of Missouri again at their next competition. Lindenwood will travel to Columbia, Mo. on Feb. 8 for a dual with Mizzou.
