Sunday afternoon at Hyland Arena was the first alumni day for the women's gymnastics program, and six members of the inaugural team were honored before the meet. Lindenwood then put on a performance that rivaled some of the top performances from that group, tying a program record for a regular season meet.
Â
Lindenwood finished with a team score of 195.325. That mark was the fourth-best in program history, and the sixth time that the program scored over a 195. The Lady Lions scored 49.050 on both the beam and floor, both of which are top-five marks in the team's history.
Â
The Lady Lions led their "Pink Out" meet by just 0.725 after two rotations, but pulled away in the final two rotations. Lindenwood collected the top-five individual scores on the beam, and four of the top six marks on the floor. Brown finished second at the meet with a 193.325, and Seattle Pacific was third with a 192.300.
Â
"I am extremely pleased with the performance of our athletes, and the effort they showed today," said head coach
Jen Kesler. "To have a two-meet weekend with a solid road score on Friday, followed by a season-high today, gives us great confidence for the rest of the season."
Â
Ryan Henry and
Kierstin Sokolowski led the way for the Lady Lions.
Â
Henry had an all-around score of 39.150, which was the fifth-best in program history. She is just the fourth Lady Lion all-time to record over a 39.000 all-around score, joining Sokolowski,
Valeri Ingui, and Emily Turik. She won the all-around overall title, and also tied for first on the floor with a 9.875.
Â
Sokolowski scored a 9.800 or higher in all three of her routines. She had a 9.875 on the beam, a new career-best for her. She also scored a 9.825 on the vault and a 9.800 on the bars. Sokolowski won or tied for first on the vault, bars, and beam.
Â
Andavea Alexander also scored a 9.800 or higher in all of her events. She tied Sokolowski for first on the bars with a 9.800, and scored a 9.825 on the floor.Â
Breanna Franklin had a pair of 9.800 marks on the beam and floor.
Emily Milliet scored a 9.825 on the beam, and
Katey Oswalt had a 9.825 mark on the floor.
Â
Seniors
Aubree Horn and
Hannah Rector continued their consistence performances. Horn had a 9.775 on the vault and a 9.725 on the bars. Rector scored a 9.775 on the beam and a 9.725 on the floor.
Â
Lindenwood improves to 9-8 on the season after recording two wins on Sunday over two of the three teams that joined the Lady Lions in last year's USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate Team Finals. The Lady Lions start a stretch of three straight MIC duals next Saturday when they travel to Centenary for a 1 p.m. contest.
