Carrie Atkinson Signs Professional Contract with Djurgården of SDHL

Former Lindenwood women's hockey player Carrie Atkinson recently signed a professional contract with Djurgården of the Swedish Women's Hockey League (SDHL). Djurgården is set to begin its season on Monday evening, and plays its home games in Stockholm, Sweeden.

"It's pretty cool coming to another country that speaks a different language," said Atkinson. "It's a totally different experience, in a good way. I'm excited to put a jersey back on again and represent a team while playing a sport I love."

Atkinson was a four-year member of the Lindenwood women's hockey team from 2013-2017, and finished her career as the highest-scoring defender in program history. The Fort Worth, Texas native accumulated nine goals and 17 assists during her four seasons at Lindenwood, including a career-high nine points during her junior season. Atkinson was a fixture on the blue line for the Lions, ranking second all-time in program history with 135 games played.
