The Lindenwood men's golf team opened its fall schedule with a first-place finish at The Arch Cup on Tuesday.
Markus Lindgren was the top overall finisher for the Lions, finishing three strokes ahead of teammate
Yente Van Doren who finished in second place overall.
Lindenwood posted scores of 292 and 290, finishing the two-round tournament with a total score of 582. Second-place Missouri-St. Louis recorded a two-round score of 584, and finished two strokes behind the Lions. Lindenwood also had a second team competing in the tournament that finished in eighth-place out of the 11-team field.
Lindgren opened the tournament with a first-round score of 67, the lowest individual round of the tournament, before shooting a 70 over his final 18 holes of play. Lindgren finished with 11 birdies to lead all golfers.
Van Doren began the tournament with a first-round score of 72, before firing a 68 during round two. Van Doren tallied a tournament-leading 27 pars, while adding six birdies to his scoresheet.
Alejandro Canazares tied for 18th place with a two-round score of 151.
Caleb Picker and
Ville Vakipartra were two of six golfers to register eagles during the tournament.
Christian Argyros,
Brad Currier,
Koke Edo Maseo, Picker,
Colton Wyllie, and Vakipartra all finished within the top 50 for individuals.
Lindenwood will continue its five-tournament fall schedule on Sep. 11-12 at the Central Missouri Invitational in Warrensburg, Mo.
