Lindenwood softball (23-15-1, 16-12 GLVC) suffered a pair of tough losses in the team's first-ever appearance in the GLVC Softball Championship Tournament.
GAME ONE RECAP
Amanda Weyh endured a rough start in the team's first conference tournament game against Drury, going just 1.1 innings, and allowing six earned runs.
Marina Esparza tossed 4.2 innings in relief, allowing three unearned runs, and striking out six.
After a pair of singles, the Lions were left stranded in the top of the first, and the Panthers would do most of their damage in the following half inning. Five runners crossed home for Drury in the bottom of the first, putting Lindenwood down early, 5-0.
Trailing 6-0 entering the third,
Whitney Wendel led off the frame with a solo home run to center field. After back-to-back singles following Wendel's long ball, the team would once against see their runners be stranded.
The final three runs of the game for Drury came in the bottom of the third, following an error by Lindenwood. The Lions would bring home five runs on two hits in the top of the fourth, which came on the heels of three errors by the Panthers.
To lead off the top of the fifth inning,
Ceairra Perez lined a solo home run to left field, for the first in her career. After closing the gap to two runs, 9-7, the team would be held scoreless over the final two frames to give Drury the win.

GAME TWO RECAP
The team's second postseason start was led by
Stormee Galka, who pitched 4.1 innings, striking out five and allowing three unearned runs. For the second-straight game,
Marina Esparza was called on in relief, and allowed three runs with two strikeouts.
The Lions got off to a quick start, scoring first in the top of the opening frame, on a bases loaded walk that brought
Whitney Wendel home. A Wendel single up the middle to drive home
Megan Clark in the second inning, and a
Chloe Honchar solo home run to left field in the third, gave the team a 3-0 lead over the Flyers.
Lindenwood's offense would be held quiet for the remainder of the night, however, and a six-run inning by Lewis in the bottom of the fifth would be the dagger for the Lions. After failing to score the final four frames, the Lions fell to the Flyers, 6-3.
