The 2017 Lindenwood Baseball team was chosen to finish 11th in the MIAA Preseason Coaches' Poll. Undeterred by that prediction, the Lions far exceeded those expectations, posting a 40-20 record, which included the program's first MIAA Conference Tournament Championship, NCAA Central Regional Championship, and the first NCAA Division II Baseball Championship appearance in program history. From April 1 through May 27, Lindenwood was nearly unbeatable, rattling off wins in 24 of 28 games. Included in that historic stretch for the Lions was an upset over No. 1 Delta State in the opening round of the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship in Grand Prairie, Texas. Nine players from the 2017 team earned all-MIAA honors while four players were named to the all-region team, including Drew Quinones who earned Central Regional Tournament MVP.
