Joe McKinney (’01) was a four-year letterwinner for the football team from 1997-2000. He was a two-time All-American and three-time first-team All-HAAC performer at the nose guard position.
After earning first-team all-conference honors in 1998, McKinney helped Lindenwood advance to its first appearance in the national tournament in 1999. That year, he earned Don Hanson and NAIA All-American honors and was the HAAC Defensive Player of the Year. As a senior, McKinney once again earned first-team All-HAAC, Don Hanson All-American, and NAIA All-American accolades. He represented Lindenwood at the National All-Star Bowl.
