Mike Elam was the head coach of the Lindenwood shooting team in 2009, and he led the Lions to the 2009 ACUI Collegiate National Championship. Lindenwood finished the event with 1,562 targets, 67 more than the runner-up school and an improvement of 34 targets for the team over the previous season. [DC2] Lindenwood had the top six men and top three women at the competition.
Elam also improved the program's fundraising as the head coach and continued to recruit world-class student-athletes. After his season as the head coach of the shooting program, Elam went on to serve Lindenwood as its director of Student Life Sports.
