Lindenwood Volleyball Clinches Its Fifth Straight HAAC Championship

The No. 23 Lindenwood women's volleyball team captured at least a share of its fifth straight conference championship on Tuesday night. The Lady Lions improved to 9-0 in conference play with a 25-20, 25-19, 25-16 sweep over MidAmerica Nazarene.

Lindenwood was never threatened as it extended its HAAC winning streak to 30 matches. The Lady Lions never trailed in the first two sets and only trailed for a couple of points early on in the deciding third set.

In the opener, the Lady Lions went on an early 3-0 run to grab a 5-2 lead that it would never give up. A short run by the Pioneers cut Lindenwood's lead to 14-10 midway through, but the Lady Lions scored four straight to go up by eight points. The Lady Lions failed to score again off their serve but did not need to as they won the set by five points.

Set two was tied at nine before Lindenwood pulled away with a 9-2 run courtesy of a trio of 3-0 runs. MidAmerica Nazarene pulled within three at 20-17 but Lindenwood rolled off four straight points and eventually won 25-19.

The Pioneers took an early 7-5 advantage in the third set before Patricia Erb's serving led Lindenwood on a 9-0 run. MidAmerica Nazarene scored three straight right after that run but never scored off their serve again as Lindenwood won 25-16 to clinch its eighth all-time HAAC crown.

Krista Yoder led Lindenwood on the night with 13 kills and five blocks. Ellen Fandry added 11 kills and Kelsey Kennedy collected nine kills and three blocks. In the back row, Erb and Alyssa Showers each had eight digs and Erb had a pair of aces. Setter Kelsey Biggs finished with a team-high 31 assists.
