Lady Lions Continue to Struggle on the Road

The Lindenwood softball team wrapped up its road trip Thursday afternoon with a pair of games against undefeated Central Baptist in Conway, Ark. The Lady Lions learned first hand there was no April 1st foolery about the Lady Mustangs' prestine 30-0 record. Central Baptist blanked Lindewood 8-0 in both games.

After pitching around a two out walk in the first inning of game one, Lindenwood starter Heidi Schertzer ran into trouble in the second.

Central Baptist erupted for seven on eight hits. Five of those hits went for extra bases, including two on back-to-back homeruns by the Lady Mustangs.

Leading 7-0 in the sixth, Central Baptist connected on its third homerun of the day to run-shorten the game.

Lindenwood would muster just two hits in the contest, and Schertzer dropped to 5-3 on the year with the loss.

Game two was much of the same as the Lady Mustangs connected on two more homeruns to help complete the sweep.

Lindenwood starter Aubrey Moss lasted just three innings, surrendering seven runs on nine hits. Rebecca Peddicord gave up a solo shot in her only inning of work. The Lady Lions managed just four hits, and failed to capitalize on a bases loaded opportunity in the fifth that could have sparked a comeback rally.

Lindenwood (12-16, 6-2) will return home to host Harris-Stowe on Saturday at 11 a.m.
