A 0-6 road trip to Alabama and Arkansas two weeks ago now seems like a distant memory to the Lindenwood softball team. The Lady Lions concluded play at the McKendree Tournament Sunday afternoon with a pair of wins over Westminster and William Woods.
With two more victories, Lindenwood has won 10 straight since returning from that ungrateful trip.
Heidi Schertzer bounced back from her last start, pitching five stellar shutout innings in an 11-0 win over Westminster.
Schertzer flirted with a no-hitter, but a single by Westminster in the bottom of the fifth ended her chances of accomplishing that feat for the second time this year. She struck out three and earned her first win since March 20th, a span of five starts.
Sophia Galati smashed her fourth homerun of the year as part of a three hit effort. She scored three runs as well.
Jessica Long posted two hits, including her team-leading eighth double of the year, and scored twice.
Aubrey Moss continued her recent string of strong outings as she propelled Lindenwood to a 5-1 win over William Woods.
Moss struck out seven and walked two, scattering six hits over seven innings allowing one earned run. Moss has played a big part in the Lady Lions' winning streak, collecting four wins this week.
Kimberly Ruth finished with a double and a triple in the victory, and
Jodi Urhahn added two more hits and a run scored.
Lindenwood (22-16, 10-2) will host a pivotal HAAC series with Central Methodist this Wednesday at 5 p.m. The Lady Lions are currently tied for first in the conference with 10 league games remaining.
