Facing a must win situation Sunday afternoon, the Lindenwood softball team delivered, sweeping Graceland in Lamoni, Iowa to keep pace in the race for the HAAC regular season crown. With two games remaining, the Lady Lions are one game out of first place.
Sophia Galati powered Lindenwood to a 4-1 victory in game one. She belted her team-leading fifth home run of the season and added an RBI double to lead the Lady Lions.
Aubrey Moss recorded the win, striking out six, allowing one run on four hits. The victory gave her double-digit wins for the third time in her career.
Galati and Jessica Long both went yard in game two to lead the Lady Lions to a 8-2 win.
Galati's was a solo shot, and Long blasted a two-run home run to give Rebecca Peddicord plenty of offense. Kimberly Ruth went 2-3 and drove in a run as well.
Peddicord allowed two runs, one earned on four hits and struck out five. She improved to 5-1 in her last six starts after starting the season 1-6.
The Lady Lions are now one game back of MidAmerica Nazarene in the conference standings. The Pioneers have wrapped up league play with a 17-3 record, and Lindenwood has only a doubleheader against Missouri Valley remaining.
Lindenwood (27-17, 15-3) will host Maryville on Wednesday for Senior Day.
