The Lindenwood women's volleyball team wrapped up play at the Point Loma Nazarene Tournament in San Diego, Calif. with a 2-2 record. The highlight of the weekend came on Saturday afternoon when the Lady Lions knocked off No. 14 Point Loma Nazarene.
Lindenwood swept the tournament hosts 25-16, 25-20, 25-19 to earn its first win over a ranked opponent this season.
The Lady Lions hit a blistering .366 as a team and committed just 11 attacking errors.
Krista Yoder recorded a match-high 16 kills while hitting .560.
Ellen Fandry was also in double figures with 14 putaways.
Kelsey Kennedy chipped in with six kills.
Alexandria Malam posted 22 assists and
Kelsey Biggs had 20.
Alyssa Showers collected 14 digs, and
Patricia Erb had 10. Fandry notched her first double-double of the season by adding 10 digs as well.
Katie Weber had a team-high three blocks.
In the nightcap, No. 3 California Baptist swept Lindenwood 25-19, 25-21, 25-16.
Fandry had a team-high ten kills and Biggs tallied 11 assists. Erb and Showers each recorded 11 digs, and Fandry added nine. Yoder had a team-best three blocks.
Lindenwood went 1-1 on the opening day of the tournament, dropping a decision to No. 2 Concordia, but bounced back to sweep William Jessup.
Fandry and Yoder paced the Lady Lions with nine kills apiece in the team's 25-9, 25-22, 25-18 victory over William Jessup. Malam netted 21 assists and Biggs had 17. Erb converted three aces.
Defensively, Showers posted 12 digs, and Yoder collected four blocks.
Lindenwood hit .365 as a team and had 10 blocks compared to William Jessup hitting .183 and totaling four blocks.
Lindenwood kept it close against No. 2 Concordia, but the Eagles proved to be too much in a 25-18, 25-20, 25-23 win.
Fandry led the way for the Lions, notching 11 kills and five digs. Yoder added seven putaways while hitting .294, and
Kristy Dreisewerd chipped in with five kills on just nine attempts.
Malam just missed out on a double-double, tallying 14 assists and nine digs. Biggs had 13 assists, and Showers netted a team-best 12 digs. Weber and
Victoria Krause each posted four blocks apiece.
Concordia hit .274 as a team compared to .183 for Lindenwood, and the Eagles had five aces to the Lady Lions' one.
Lindenwood will host Hannibal-LaGrange this Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
