The Lindenwood women's volleyball team finished third at the Graceland/Pizza Shack Invitational this weekend. The Lady Lions dropped their semifinal match to No. 15 Indiana Institute of Technology early Saturday morning, but defeated Grand View in five sets to finish the tournament 3-1.
After falling in the semifinals, Lindenwood rebounded to defeat Grand View 16-25, 25-22, 24-26, 25-22, 15-8 to capture third place honors.
Krista Yoder posted 12 kills and
Ellen Fandry had 10.
Alexandria Malam tallied 22 assists and
Kelsey Biggs added 16.
Katie Weber converted three aces.
Defensively, Fandry notched a double-double with a team-high 18 digs.
Alyssa Showers collected 15 digs and
Patricia Erb had 11. Weber and Yoder each had five blocks apiece, and
Kristy Dreisewerd added four.
Indiana Institute of Technology swept the Lady Lions 25-23, 25-22, 25-20 in the semifinals. The loss dropped the team to 1-5 against ranked opponents this season.
Fandry led the squad with nine kills and Yoder had eight. Both Malam and Biggs had 16 assists, and Malam posted two aces. Showers logged 20 digs and Erb had 19. Yoder recorded four blocks.
On Friday, Lindenwood posted a 2-0 record in pool play, earning victories over Graceland and Texas Wesleyan.
Graceland kept it close against Lindenwood in the HAAC contest, but the Lady Lions prevailed 25-22, 25-21, 27-25. Fandry had a team-high 11 kills and Malam logged 18 assists. Showers posted 16 digs and Yoder and Weber each had six blocks apiece. Dreisewerd added five blocks.
The Lady Lions swept Texas Wesleyan 25-16, 25-19, 25-14 to earn their spot in the semifinals. Yoder posted a team-high 11 kills and Fandry had nine. Malam collected 19 assists and Biggs netted 15. Showers recorded 19 digs and Weber had four blocks.
Lindenwood (9-5, 2-0) will host Evangel on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
