The Lindenwood women's soccer team opened its 2010 season with an epic double-overtime victory over St. Xavier 2-1.
Lindenwood scored the first goal of the game late in the first half when freshman Bailey Cody scored her first collegiate goal with help from Victoria Teahan.
As the clock ticked away the Lady Lions were just four minutes away from a victory when Kelly Steinhouse of St. Xavier tied the game in the 86th minute. The final minutes of regulation ticked away and the game would go into overtime.
The first overtime ended with neither team netting the game-winner. In the second overtime, the Lady Lions finally ended the contest after Paige Hickey scored in the 104th minute.
Whitney Calvin started in goal for the Lady Lions and made 11 saves to earn her first win of the season.
Lindenwood's brief two-game road trip will continue on Monday afternoon when the Lady Lions take on No. 17 Trinity Christian.
