The women's volleyball team swept the William Woods Owls on Senior Day on Saturday with scores of 25-20, 25-18, and 30-28. The victory marked the 300th win for
Ron Young as the head coach of the women's volleyball program.
The Lady Lions dominated the first set, ending it with a block by the four-year veteran and senior,
Kelsey Jo Vogler. In the second set, Lindenwood trailed for the first couple points until several William Woods' errors caused the Lady Lions to gain the lead at 17-15. Once again, a middle-hitter ended the game when
Megan Sandbothe had a solo block to get the win.
The first part of the third set belonged to William Woods as it led 18-12. However, the Lady Lions went on a 10-4 run to tie the game at 22-22. Both teams battled back and forth until
Katie Weber ended the match with tremendous kill to give Lindenwood the victory at 30-28.
Kristy Dreisewerd led the team in kills with 13 while
Erin Anselman followed with 11. Senior outside hitter
Ellen Fandry also had a solid performance recording nine kills and six digs.

Kelsey Biggs recorded a team-high of 22 assists and
Emma Brydels tallied 14. At the net, Sandbothe and Brydels led the team in blocks, each recording four blocks apiece. Defensively, Kaila Shrimpf posted 13 digs while Anselman concluded her double-double with 10.
With this win,
Ron Young earned his 300th victory as the women's volleyball head coach. Young also recently won his 600th combined victory between the women's and men's programs. The Lady Lions advance to 18-12 on the season and will next travel to Sioux Falls, S.D., to play in the Sioux Falls Tournament on Oct. 28-29. The next home match will be at the Locos Grill Transition Tournament on Nov. 10-12.
