The Lindenwood men's swimming and diving team dominated the Liberal Arts Invitational over the weekend in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Lions finished with 985 point, which was over 330 points ahead of the second place team. The Lady Lions were also competing and finished in second place behind Luther College.
Day Three Recap
The final day of the competition started with the
Colin Sharpe winning the men's three meter diving competition.
Javier Hernandez and
Gilad Brunfman finished first and second in the 200 yard butterfly.
Ramunas Paknys won the 200 yard backstroke and
Cody Friedhoff finished in first in the 100 yard freestyle. To wrap up the men's competition the Lions won the 400 yard freestyle relay.
On the women's side
Stephanie Heutel won the 200 yard backstroke.
Day Two Recap
Day two began with both the men and women's 200 yard IM relay team finishing in second place.
Ramunas Paknys,
Simon Morley, and
Matthew Friedhoff finished first, second, and third in the 100 yard backstroke. The Lions also had a one, two finish in the 200 yard freestyle.
Uba Zavaleta finished first and Igor Iovanovich
place second. Javier Herndandez# also finished on top of the podium in the 100 yard butterfly.
Sarah Billamosa was the top finisher for the Lady Lions placing second in the 400 yard IM.
Day One Recap
In the 500 yard freestyle the Lions finished first through third.
Cody Friedhoff finished first followed by
Victor Munoz and Martin Boltizor. The 200 yard IM was much of the same, with the Lions taking the top four spots.
Javier Hernandez finished in first, Friedhoff in second,
Ivan Potkonjak in third, and
Ramunas Paknys in fourth. The men also won the 200 yard freestyle relay and the 400 yard medley relay.
On the women's side the Lady Lions were close to the top step of the podium in numerous events. The Lady Lions finished second in the 200 yard freestyle relay,
Stephanie Heutel placed second in the 500 yard freestyle, and Vicotria Lowe was second in the 200 yard IM.
Next up for the Lindenwood swimming and diving teams is the NAIA National Championships held in St. Peters, Mo.
