Lindenwood Drops Two Games to Central Methodist

The Lindenwood softball team dropped both games in a doubleheader against Central Methodist on Wednesday afternoon. The Lady Lions fell by scores of 5-2 and 7-4.

The Eagles scored first, putting a run up on the board in the second inning. Lindenwood tie things up in the fourth but Central Methodist came back with two more runs in the bottom half. Both teams scored once in the fifth, and the Eagles scored another run in the sixth to put the game out of reach at 5-2.

Aubrey Moss took the loss in game one, pitching four innings, surrendering two earned runs on six hits and striking out two batters.

Sophia Galati led the offense with two hits, and Sophie Berman contributed the lone RBI for the Lady Lions.

The Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning of the second game. Lindenwood was down 3-1 going into the fifth inning, where it put two runs on the board to tie the game. But Central Methodist netted four runs in the next half inning and did not relinquish its lead, going on to win 7-4.

Megan Noe received the loss for the visitors, pitching two innings in relief of Heidi Schertzer. Schertzer went four innings, giving up three runs on six hits and striking out three batters.

Again, Galati had a team-high three hits and an RBI. Chelsea Landeck, Jessica Long, and Courtney Locke all collected two hits in the loss.

Lindenwood will return home to Lou Brock Sports Complex on Thursday to take on University of Missouri-St. Louis at 5 pm.
