The Lindenwood softball team won both games of a doubleheader against Culver-Stockton to complete a sweep of the Wildcats on Tuesday afternoon at Lou Brock Sports Complex.
In the first game, the Lady Lions only needed two runs to capture the victory, getting a run in the third and fifth innings to win 2-0.
Chelsea Landeck was able to get the only RBI of the game, driving in Kim Ruth in the third. Ruth went 2-2 with two runs scored to lead the offense.
On the mound for Lindenwood,
Heidi Schertzer was never really threatened, not allowing a runner past second the entire game. Schertzer struck out 12 Wildcats, surrendering just one walk and three hits in seven innings to get her fifth win of the season.
Game two was scoreless until the bottom of the seventh. The Lady Lions loaded the bases with two outs for Landeck. She delivered with a line drive to the wall in left-center field and
Emily Johnson came home to end the game and give Lindenwood a 1-0 victory.
Aubrey Moss gave the Lady Lions another great performance on the mound, striking out 11 batters, while giving up just two hits and two walks in seven innings. Moss earned her eighth win of the year.
Lindenwood (16-14, 4-0) will head to Mount Pleasant, Iowa this weekend for the Iowa Wesleyan Classic. The first game of the tournament is against Purdue University North Central at 11 a.m. on Friday.
