The Lindenwood softball team went 1-1 at the Iowa Wesleyan Sammons Classic in Mount Pleasant, Iowa on Friday afternoon. The Lady Lions lost the first game 3-1 against Robert Morris, but edged out Purdue-North Central 1-0 in game two.

Lindenwood got on the board first in game one, scoring a run on a single by Sophia Galati in the top of the second inning. But Robert Morris came back with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning and one more in the fifth to capture the game.

Heidi Schertzer pitched five innings, surrendering three runs on nine hits and striking out five batters, but received the loss.

In the second game, Lindenwood won in its last at-bat, scoring the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh to snag the 1-0 victory.

Both teams managed just two hits apiece, but the Panthers were plagued by their four errors on defense.

Lindenwood (17-15, 4-0) will return home on Sunday to take on Baker at 1 pm in a conference affair at the Lou Brock Sports Complex.
