The Lindenwood women's tennis team fell to the Bronchos of Central Oklahoma by a final score of 7-2 on Sunday to conclude its spring break.
In doubles, the Lady Lions collected a close 9-7 victory at No. 2 thanks to the performances of
Anna Barbasheva and
Rebeca Aguilar. The Lady Lions nearly stole another win at No. 1, but
Tereza Melicharkova and Clara Piccamglio barely lost 8-6. The Bronchos entered singles with a 2-1 lead after clinching the No. 3 spot.
Piccamiglio stood as the lone Lady Lion to win a match in which she snuck away with a comfortable 6-3, 6-2 straight-set score at No. 4. The Lady Lions heavily contested at No. 2 and 6, but Barbasheva and Aguilar each fell in a three-set marathon.
Following the defeat, the Lady Lions fall to 6-8 on the season as they, along with the men, prepare to host Emporia State on Wednesday in a dual starting at 1 pm.
