Swimming Teams Open Seasons With 20 Victories Against SIU-Carbondale

The Lindenwood swimming and diving teams opened up their 2017-18 seasons on Friday afternoon with a dual against NCAA Division I SIU-Carbondale.

In the non-scoring meet, Lindenwood's men's team won 13 of 15 events, and the women's program came home with seven first-place finishes.

Simone de Rijcke was the top Lindenwood performer, winning five races for the women's team. She captured the 50 free, 100 free, 150 free, 200 free, and 500 free. Also on the women's side, Lexie Winnett won an individual race, and the women's 100 free relay team had the fastest time.
 
For the men, Justin Winnett won four races. He was first in the 50 breast, 50 free, 100 IM, and 300 IM. Matheus Isidro won three individual races and Chen Haoning captured two invidual titles. Alex Leff won the 50 fly, and the men swept the 100 medley relay and 100 free relay. The final title came from Grant Williams in the 3m dive.
 
Lindenwood will be in the pool again on Sept. 29 at the Show-Me Showdown in Columbia, Mo.
