Nicolai Nonnenbroich is in his second season as the men's and women's head tennis coach at Lindenwood University.

Nonnenbroich has been the assistant men’s tennis coach at NCAA Division I James Madison for the past two seasons. The Dukes improved each season that Nonnenbroich was at the school, including a five-match improvement in the win column last year when they went 14-9. James Madison recorded its most wins last season since 2009-10, and went a perfect 7-0 on its home court.
 
Nonnenbroich helped coach last year’s Colonial Athletics Association co-Rookie of the Year in Damon Roberts. Six players earned second-team all-CAA honors over the last two seasons, and one was named to the CAA All-Academic team each year.
 
Nonnenbroich has NCAA Division II experience from when he was an assistant women’s coach at California of Pennsylvania for two seasons. He helped the Vulcans win the 2014 and 2015 PSAC Championships, and the 2014 team advanced to the national quarterfinals. In 2015, he was named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Assistant Coach of the Year. He coached three players to top-35 national rankings in singles action, and a doubles team to a No. 6 national ranking.
 
Other coaching experience for Nonnenbroich includes serving as the assistant director of Camp Winadu in 2014, working as a private coach for SC Riessersee Garmisch-Partenkirchen from 2011-2013, and coaching with the ISP Tennis Academy in France in 2009-2010.
 
Nonnenbroich played collegiately at UNC Asheville, where he played at the No. 1-3 spots in singles and No. 1-2 positions in doubles. He was a first-team all-Big South selection in 2010. He also competed in multiple tournaments in France on the national men’s tour. In Germany, Nonnenbroich played at the No. 1 spot for SC Riessersee Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 2012.
 
Nonnenbroich received his bachelor’s in management from UNC Asheville in 2011, and received his bachelor’s in international business from the SKEMA Business School of Sophia Antipolis in 2012. He also earned a master’s from California of Pennsylvania in 2015. Also in 2015, he earned a certified tennis performance specialist by the International Tennis Performance Association. Nonnenbroich is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
 
Nonnenbroich was born in Germany, and raised in France, and is the son of two volleyball coaches. His father has won multiple national championships in Europe and Africa.
