    Women's Volleyball Head Coach
Ron Young enters his 11th season as a volleyball coach at Lindenwood in 2009-10, including his eighth year as the head coach of the women's team. Young is also in his tenth season as the men's volleyball head coach.

Young has won a combined 454 matches between the two programs. His men’s volleyball teams have a 233-74 (.759) overall record while his women’s team have a record of 221-74 (.749).

Young’s women’s program has had unprecedented success over the last two years. The Lady Lions have won 76 matches over that span and advanced to the NAIA Championships for the first two times in school history. The 2007 squad advanced to the quarterfinals and was the top season for a volleyball squad in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. 

The women’s program has captured six HAAC Championships under Young and he has been named HAAC Coach of the Year four times and NAIA Region Coach of the Year twice.

Young won his first national championship in 2009 when the men’s squad captured the NAIA National Invitational Tournament. The Lions won their final 26 matches, including a 3-0 victory over California Baptist in the championship contest. Lindenwood finished the year with a 37-3 record.

The Lindenwood men’s program has reached the national tournament every season since it was started in 2000, including the last nine seasons under Young. The Lions have reached the national championship match four times under Young and has been in the Final Four every year but one.

The men’s program has won five conference championships during Young’s tenure and he has earned four conference Coach of the Year awards and one national Coach of the Year honor.

Young’s resume includes a 20-year coaching career at the high school, junior national club and college levels. In 2001, he was honored by USA Volleyball with the Robert L. Lindsay Meritorious Service award for contributing outstanding participation, motivation and other services in the promotion of volleyball.

Ron is married to Lindenwood Athletics Trainer Delanie Young. He has three sons, Josh, Zach and Luke, and one daughter, Sarah.
