Lion Soccer Wins Key HAAC Game

The Lindenwood men's soccer team has had some recent struggles scoring goals, but that was not the case on Tuesday night when the Lions beat visiting Central Methodist, 3-2.

It wouldn't take the Lions long to get on the board, just four minutes into the game Robin Rundstorm would bury his first goal of the year from just outside the penalty box. The Lindenwood lead would last for only 20 minutes though when Central Methodist forward Thyago Catharino would tie the game. The score would stay tied when the first half ended.

As the second half began it only took the Lions one minute to regain the lead when Victor Alvardo scored to give the Lions the lead once again. The lead would grow to two goals in the 60th minute when Filip Milisavljevic scored after a perfect feed from Simon Harrsen. Though the Lions held a two goal lead the Eagles would not go away cutting the lead to one in 75th minute when Catharino would score his second goal of the game.

That would be as close as the Eagles would get as the Lions' defense and goalie Victor Francoz would preserve the win with numerous stops late in the game.

With the win the Lions improve their record to 5-9-2 and their HAAC record to 4-2-1. This weekend the Lions have a big game against the second place team in the HAAC, Graceland.
