For the second straight game the Lindenwood Lady Lions were leading at the half but again the opponent was able to win the second half. The Lady Lions fell to the Missouri Baptist Spartans, 107-97.
The Lady Lions came out firing on all cylinders hitting their fist five out of seven shots and grew the lead all the way to 11 points midway through the first half. For the rest of the half the Lady Lions would continue to lead and would go into the halftime break holding a six point lead.
The second half was all Spartans as Missouri Baptist cut the six point lead down to one in only 57 seconds. Missouri Baptist would take a one point lead at the 18 minute mark but the Lady Lions came right back to tie the game. After Lindenwood tied the score Megan Payton of Missouri Baptist would score two of her game-high 48 points to give the Spartans the lead and they didn't look back from there.
Missouri Baptist shot 73 percent from the field in the second half compared to the Lady Lions, who shot a respectable, 45 percent. For the game, both teams shot over 50 percent, the Lady Lions connected on 51 percent and Missouri Baptist, 63.
Four Lady Lions scored in double-figures led by junior
Kelly Albers who recorded her first double-double with 29 points on 13-of-16 shooting and 12 rebounds.
Destini Wilson pitched in with 18 points while
Cassie Williams and Abby Schultenhenrich each scored 11.
With the loss the Lady Lions dropped to 0-5 and Missouri Baptist kept their perfect season alive at 4-0. Up next for the Lady Lions is another home game against Hannibal-LaGrange on Saturday night at 7:30.
