Lady Lions Return Home For a Pair of Games

Storyline
The Lady Lions will be back on their home court for a pair of tough non-conference games against Missouri Baptist on Wednesday and Hannibal-LaGrange on Saturday.

Missouri Baptist comes to the Hyland Performance Arena with a perfect 3-0 record and are making their first trip to St. Charles since, 2005. The Spartans will bring a powerful offense, which is averaging over 89 points a game.

The Hannibal-LaGrange Trojans come into the match-up against the Lady Lions with a record of 2-2 and a win against the Heart of American Athletic Conference's, Culver-Stockton.

Lindenwood will be trying to get in the win column for the first time this year and give interim head coach Jenone Bell her first win as the Lady Lion head coach.

Last Week's Recap

The Lady Lions had their toughest two game stretch of the season last week when they took on nationally ranked Columbia College and NCAA Division II, University of Missouri-St. Louis.

The visiting Columbia College Lady Cougars were just too much for the Lady Lions winning, 99-52. Senior Cassie Williams led the Lady Lions in scoring with 13 points. Kelly Albers and Casey Junge chipped in with eight points apiece.

Lindenwood would have to travel to UMSL but nearly left with a big upset win. The Lady Lions fell to the Tritons 62-60 after Abby Schultenhenrich's three-pointer at the buzzer missed the mark. Destini Wilson led the team in scoring with a career-high 16.

The Lady Lions dominated the glass, outrebounding the Tritons, 43-31 and 12-7 on the offensive boards.

Cleaning Up The Glass

Against the University of Missouri-St. Louis the Lady Lions outrebounded the Tritons 43-31 and 12-7 on the offensive glass.

Lindenwood is averaging over 41 rebounds a game and 14 offensive rebounds, which is good for fourth in the HAAC in both categories.

It's Your Destini
Destini Wilson is second on the team in scoring with 10 points a game. The freshman from St. Louis led the Lady Lions in scoring at Lyon and against the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

Wilson is the second leading freshman scorer in the HAAC behind April Dowell of Culver-Stockton, who is averaging 12 points a game.

Williams Leading The Way
Senior Cassie Williams is leading the Lady Lions in scoring with an average of 16.7 points a game. The senior from Wright City, Mo. is also leading the team in rebounds, steals, field goals made, and assists per game.

Earlier in the season againt Olivet Nazarene, she scored her career-high in points with 26 and grabbed a career best in rebounds with 10. The double-double was her and the team's first of the year.

Leading At The Half
For the first time in 2009-10 the Lady Lions were leading at the half against UMSL, 31-30.

Dominating The Paint
In two of the Lady Lions first four games they have scored more points in the paint than their opponents. In the two games, Lindenwood outscored Olivet Nazarene and UMSL, 86-64.

On the year, the Lady Lions hold a 106-102 advantage in four games.

Three Point Defense
Lindenwood is holding its opponents to just 29 percent shooting from behind the three-point line.

Block Party
The Lady Lions rank 16th in the country in blocks per game with four. Five different players have recorded at least one block and freshman Kaci Weston leads the Lady Lions with three blocks already on the young season.

Snapping The Streak
Lindenwood is looking to snap a seven game losing streak dating back to the 2008-09 season. The Lady Lions lost their last two regular season games plus the first round of the HAAC tournament.

Getting To The Line
The Lady Lions have been to the free throw line 104 times already in 2009-10. Cassie Williams and Destini Wilson are averaging six free throw attempts a game to lead the team.

Team Full Of Thieves
In Lindenwood's four games this year, every Lady Lion has already recorded at least one steal. Lindenwood is averaging 12.33 steals a game which ranks them third in the HAAC.

Cassie Williams is leading the Lady Lions with eight steals, which is an average 2.0 steals a game.

Young Lady Lions
The six Lady Lion freshman have performed well in the early season, averaging over seven points a game as a group and have eight combined starts.

Scouting The Spartans
Missouri Baptist is coming off a 14-14 season in 2008-09 and a fifth place finish in the American Midwest Conference. The Spartans beat Culver-Stocton in their last outing, 81-69. The Spartans trip to the Hyland performance Arena will be their first road game of the 2009-10 season.

The Spartans have four players that average over 11 points a game, led by Ashley Johnson, who is scoring over 19 points a night and also grabbing 12 rebounds a game. Junior point guard Megan Payton is second on the team in scoring with an average of 17 points and fellow junior Jessica Moore is pitching in 15 a game.

Missouri Baptist is coached by Danny Wingate who is in his sixth year as the head coach of the Spartans. Wingate has compiled a record of 103-80 in his time at Missouri Baptist.

Scouting The Trojans
The match up with the Trojans will be a rematch from last year when the Lady Lions were victorious 73-61. The Trojans ended the 2008-09 season with a 13-18 record and a fourth place finish in the American Midwest Conference. Hannibal-LaGrange is coming off a pair of wins against HAAC teams, Culver-Stockton and Missouri Valley. The Trojans have out scored their opponents 302-296.

Hannibal- LaGrange is led by Natasha Bonner who is averaging over 17 points a game, and has already recorded 18 steals, which is fourth in the whole country. In the Trojans four games, Bonner has scored over 20 points twice already. Michinko Namba is pitching in 12 a game to go along with her two assists.

The Trojans are coached by Delena White who is in her second year as Hannibal-LaGange's head coach. White came back to Hannibal-LaGrange after being an NAIA All-American for the Trojans.

Up Next
The Lady Lions will have some time off for the holidays and will be back on the court to start off their portion of the conference schedule.

Lindenwood will start with a pair of road games against Culver-Stockton on December 3 and Baker University on December 5.
