The Lindenwood Lady Lions' basketball team got their first win of the season on Saturday night against visiting Hannibal-LaGrange, 69-63. The win was also the first for interim head coach Jenone Bell.
For the third straight game the Lady Lions took a halftime lead, this time it was one point. After a back-and-forth first half the Lady Lions came out of the locker room on a mission. Lindenwood started the second stanza on a 9-0 run to extend the lead to 10 capped off by an Abby Schultenhenrich three.
The Lady Lions would only trail once in the second half when the Trojans went on a 12-0 run but Lindenwood came right back with a 12-0 run of their own. From then on it was all Lindenwood.
Senior
Cassie Williams recorded her second double-double of the year with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Schultenhenrich had her best game of the season scoring 15 points on 4-of-10 shooting but was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line.
Destini Wilson pitched in 11 points to go along with
Kelly Albers and
Sade Adams eight.
Lindenwood shot 51 percent from the field compared to the Trojans 38 percent. The Lady Lions were clutch down the stretch from the free throw line connecting on all six of their second half free throws and shot 90 percent for the game.
With the win the Lady Lions improve their record to 1-5 and will be off until December 3 when they start conference play against Culver-Stockton.
