Men's Basketball Defeats Hannibal-LaGrange In Overtime

The No. 12 Lindenwood men's basketball team continues to win the close ballgames, winning another overtime contest on Friday evening with a 69-61 victory over Hannibal-LaGrange.

The Lions jumped out to a 30-23 halftime lead, but struggled scoring in the first part of the second-half. That allowed Hannibal-LaGrange to take over the lead for much of the final part of the period. A 7-0 run put Lindenwood back on top late by a 53-51 score with just over a minute remaining, but the Trojans tied it with two free throws. After a Lions turnover, Hannibal-LaGrange had the final shot in regulation but Lindenwood's defense forced a miss and the two teams went into overtime.

In the extra five minutes, the Lions transfers, David King and Alfred Nelson, propelled the team to the victory. King scored four points, including a dunk, to give Lindenwood the lead and Nelson hit a three-pointer to help seal the victory.

Toriano Adams led the Lions with 15 points and 11 rebounds, his fifth double double of the season. Richard Rose had 14 points and Joey Parker had 11. Those two players combined to go 13-of-15 from the free throw line, a key stat in the game as the entire Trojan team made just seven-of-13 charity shots on the night.

Brandon Kunkel added nine points and King finished with eight. Parker led the team with four assists and Rose had a team-high three steals.

Lindenwood will conclude play at the Best Western Classic on Saturday afternoon when it takes on No. 19 Columbia College.
