Lady Lions Score Four in Victory Over Maryville

The Lindenwood Lady Lions soccer team began their season with a big win over Division II foe Maryville University, 4-1.

The Lady Lions started early with a goal by McKenzie Creamer just eight minutes into the game. Most of the first half was dominated by the Lady Lions and in the 14th minute the lead would grow to 2-0 on Lindsay Shea's first of three goals on the night. At the end of the first half the score was 2-0 and the Lady Lions were just starting to click.

As the second half started the play was dominated by Lindenwood. In the 51st minute Shea would score her second goal and in the 77th minute she would complete the hat trick.

Lindenwood goalie Erin Sage was working on a shutout until in the 85th minute Laura Jendusa scored when she chipped the ball over the head of Sage from a bad angle. The goal was the only one the Saints were able to muster against a stingy Lion defense.

The win was the first of the year for the Lions and the loss dropped the Saints record to 0-2. Next up for Lindenwood is a date against Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia on September 5th. The ladies return home on September 12th against Trinity College.
