The Lindenwood Lions men's soccer team is in the middle of four games away from Harlen C. Hunter and after losing in the opening game of the trip Saturday night, the Lions came right back on Sunday and upended the NCAA Division II Christian Brothers Pirates, 2-0.
The Lions didn't take long to get on the scoreboard, seven minutes into the opening half
Tian Taylor scored his first goal of the year to give the Lions an early 1-0 lead. After the early goal the Lions kept the foot on the throttle when four minutes later
Andres Iriarte scored with help from
Alexander Rivera to give the Lions the lead, 2-0. The two goals were all the Lions needed. Lions' goalie
Victor Francoz made three saves to preserve the shutout.
The first half was dominated by the Lions as they recorded seven shots on goal to the Pirates three. The second half was a little different. With the two goal lead the Lions played a very defensive second half allowing the Pirates to take six shots.
Both teams were very aggressive and made the referee earn his money. The teams combined 34 fouls and the Pirates received five yellow cards and a red card.
With the win the Lions move to 1-4. Next up is two more games on the road starting with Oklahoma Christian on September 11th.
