The Lindenwood Lions women's soccer team had started their season with a two game winning streak but it was snapped on Monday afternoon in Georgia. After a big win on Saturday against number 15th ranked SCAD, the Ladies took to the pitch against Brenau and fell, 2-0.
In the 24th minute the Lions would fall behind for the first time all year. Tori Futrell scored with help from Lily Futrell to give Brenau the lead. After the goal both teams would trade scoring opportunities.
The second half the Lions put a lot of pressure on the Brenau defense peppering the net with seven shots. But the only problem was that none of the shots found the back of the net. Brenau goalie Lisa Lesnick made six saves to shutout the Lions. With time running out in the game Brenau would put the game out of reach with a goal in the 82nd minute by Lily Futrell.
The loss was the first of the year for the Lions and dropped their record to 2-1. Next up for the ladies is a home game against Trinity Christian Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
