The Lindenwood women's basketball team was held to a season low in total points in a 76-43 loss to William Jewell Saturday afternoon at the Hyland Performance Arena.
William Jewell opened the game with a decisive 18-6 run fueled by four three-pointers and the Lady Lions would never recover. In the first half, the Cardinals hit 12 total field goals with seven of those coming from long distance, and took a 35-21 advantage into the halftime break.
The Lady Lions cut the lead to 42-28 early in the second, but William Jewell scored 14 straight points to put the game out of reach for good. The Cardinals would lead by as much as 35 in the final minute of the contest before settling for a comfortable 33 point victory.
William Jewell shot 50 percent from the field compared to Lindenwood's 29 percent. The Lady Lions struggled from the free throw line, hitting only 10-of-24 in the contest. The Cardinals hit 12 three-pointers in all to just three for Lindenwood.
Christina Edwards led the way again for Lindenwood, notching a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Destini Wilson and
Gina Ferrer both had 10 points apiece. Ferrer also finished with a team-high four steals.
Lindenwood (5-13, 3-7) will host Culver-Stockton this Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
