The Lindenwood Lady Lion basketball team fell just six points short of pulling off an upset on Saturday night against the second place team in the conference, Baker University, 65-59.
The Wildcats jumped out to a 9-5 lead after Brittney Hines of Baker made the first of her two threes on the night. Two minutes later she would connect on another three to extend the lead to 11. Slowly but surely the Lady Lions would chip away at the lead and went into the locker room trailing by just one after Gina Ferrer connected on a layup with 44 seconds to play.
After Baker extended their lead to four the Lady Lions came right back and would tie the game after Ferrer made a layup. Baker would come right back and take the lead by two but Abby Schultenhenrich knocked down her first of two threes on the night to give the Lady Lions their first lead of the night.
From then on the lead would go back-and-forth until the Wildcats took the lead for good with just over six minutes to play. Lindenwood would get within three points with 1:44 to play but that would be as close as they would get.
Kelly Albers led the way for the Lady Lions scoring 18 points while Christina Edwards chipped in with 12. Lindenwood shot 37 percent on the night while only shooting 21 percent from behind the arc.
