Lady Lions Finish Perfect at Lindenwood Invitational

The No. 24 Lindenwood volleyball team went undefeated at the Lindenwood Invitational, posting wins over Ashford and No. 23 Olivet Nazarene Saturday afternoon at the Hyland Performance Arena.

The Lady Lions swept the 23rd-ranked Tigers 25-20, 25-16, 25-17 for their fifth win over a ranked opponent this season. Ellen Fandry had a team-high 14 kills and Kelsey Kennedy chipped in with nine. Krista Yoder, playing for the first time since Sept. 25 due to an injury, totaled nine kills on ten attempts.

Kelsey Biggs posted 24 assists and Alexandria Malam added 19. Patricia Erb recorded a team-best 12 digs, and Fandry notched her third double-double of the tournament with 11 digs.

The Lady Lions defeated Ashford 25-13, 23-25, 25-15, 25-22 earlier in the day. Fandry recorded a double-double with 14 kills and 15 digs. Kristy Dreisewerd logged 11 putaways. Biggs tallied 22 assists and 11 digs, and Malam had 19 helpers and three aces.

Alyssa Showers collected 15 digs and Kelsey Jo Vogler had seven blocks.

Lindenwood prevailed over Oklahoma City in a thrilling five-set match late Friday evening. The Lady Lions won 18-25, 25-21, 25-19, 27-29, 15-8.

Lindenwood rebounded after dropping the opening set to win games two and three. The team had several opportunities to clinch the match in the fourth set, but Oklahoma City fight off match-point seven times, and eventually forced a fifth set.

Trailing 6-5 in the final game, Lindenwood recorded five straight points to surge ahead. With the Lady Lions leading 13-8, Erb logged consecutive aces to end the match.

Fandry posted a season-high 23 kills, and Dreisewerd added 11. Kelsey Kennedy chipped in with 10. Malam tallied 29 assists and Biggs totaled 27.

Showers posted 24 digs and Fandry had 17. Katie Weber and Vogler both collected five blocks apiece.

Lindenwood swept Avila 25-9, 25-17, 25-15 early Friday to improve to 6-2 in the HAAC.

Fandry, Vogler, and Megan Dillon all had eight kills apiece in the win. Both Malam and Biggs logged 17 assists and three aces. Erb led the defensive effort with 17 digs and Showers had 14.

Lindenwood (23-11, 6-2) returns to action this Thursday when the team travels to William Woods.
