The Lindenwood Lady Lions soccer team went on the road Saturday to take on the Benedictine Ravens in Atchison, Kan. The two teams scored a total of four goals in an eight minute span but the Ravens had the edge in goals and won the game 3-1.
The scoring barrage started in the 29th minute when Benedictines' Kate Zackary scored the opening goal. Seven minutes later the Ravens took a 2-0 lead after Lauren Heinisch scored with help from Zackary.
Lindenwood would answer, cutting the lead to one just 57 seconds later. Taylor Buehne scored her first goal of the season but right back came the Ravens just 14 second later. Gina Whelan would cap off all the scoring and the game for the Ravens by a score of 3-1.
With the loss the Lady Lions drop to 4-8-1 and 2-2-1 in conference play. Lindenwood will have only a couple of days to think about the loss because the team will be back on the field Wednesday night at home against visiting Covenant College (Ga.).
