Complete Game Notes .pdf format here

Storyline

A new era in Lindenwood Lady Lions basketball is set to begin as new head coach Tony Francis takes over the helm of the program. Francis takes over a program which has won just 56 games over the past five years and the players and university will look to him to get the program back as a perennial power.

Francis comes to Lindenwood from Saint Louis University where he was Shimmy Gray's lead assistant and helped the Billikens win 82 games in his eight years at the school.

It will be a new challenge for Francis who takes over a team which went 9-22 in 2009-10. The roster will look a lot different this season as only three Lady Lions are back from last year's team. Francis will have a good mix of returning players, transfer students and freshmen who will all compete for playing time.
The 2010-11 season will kick-off with the Lady Lions taking on Lindenwood University-Belleville who is competing in its first ever season.

After the season opener the team will not have much time to rest as it will be right back on the court against Harris-Stowe just three days later.

Last Year
The 2009-10 season was a year that had a few speed bumps but ultimately the Lady Lions would once again participate in the HAAC postseason tournament. Lindenwood would finish the season with a 9-22 record overall and a 7-13 mark in conference play. The season would end with a loss to the William Jewell Cardinals in the opening round of the HAAC tournament.

Young Talent
The 2010-11 edition of the Lady Lions will be a very young team. There will be six freshmen on the team along with three sophomores.

Returners
Only three ladies from last year's squad who saw significant playing time will be back for another season. Seniors Kelly Albers, Abby Schultenhenrich, and sophomore Casey Junge will all be back donning a Lindenwood jersey.

In 2009-10 the threesome averaged 7.3 points led by Albers who poured in 9.4 a game.

Abby's Stellar Career
Abby Schultenhenrich is starting her fourth and final year in a Lindenwood uniform. The senior from St. Charles is just six three-pointers away from 100 for her career and is just 54 points away from scoring 600. Last season she was fourth on the team in scoring (8.8), made the most threes (46), and compiled the second most assists (39).

Streak Continues
Last season the Lady Lions appeared in the HAAC Tournament for the 14th straight season. Even though the ladies fell in the opening round the streak is one of the longest in the HAAC.

Road Woes
Over the past five seasons the Lady Lions have had their struggles on the road. During that span the team has recorded a 24-53 record away from the Hyland Performance Arena.

The Magic Number
In 2009-10 when the Lady Lions' defense surrendered 60 points or less the team was 4-0. The best defensive effort came against Tabor College when the team only allowed 28 points.

Morgan Harrington
One of Tony Francis' biggest recruits coming into his program will be Morgan Harrington. She comes to Lindenwood from Missouri State University where she averaged three points a game as a freshman. During her high school days at Belleville-East she was a four-time All-State selection. She also ended her career as the school's ninth all-time leading scorer and was second in school history in assists.

Back For More
After playing in all 30 games and averaging 8.9 points for the Lady Lions as a freshman, Sarah Schnieders took a year off from the game. The St. Peters native sat out all of the 2009-10 season but now the sophomore is back and ready to reak havoc in the conference.

Injury Can't Stop Her
Megan Lankford was a member of the 2009-10 Lindenwood Lady Lion basketball team for about eight minutes. In the Lady Lions first game of the season Lankford injured her knee just eight minutes into the season opener. The senior  from Houston, Texas will give the team good minutes and will be a key cog in the offense.

The Schedule

The 2010-11 season schedule is like always, going to be a tough road for the Lady Lions. The team will play two teams that are ranked in the NAIA preseason poll. McKendree comes in at 25 and the Evangel Crusaders are 24. Three other teams are receiving votes, William Jewell, Avila, and Baker.

Scouting LU-Belleville
The 2010-11 season will be the first season for the program.
The team will play its home games on the campus of Lindenwood-Belleville and will have a good mix of young and experienced players. One of the ladies will be a familiar face for Lady Lions fans. Destini Wilson who played on the Lady Lions last year will be a key member in the Lynx success this season.
Lindenwood-Belleville is coached by Annie Ewing comes over from MacMurray College, an NCAA Division III school in Jacksonville, Ill., where she held the same position. In her first season at MacMurray, Ewing doubled the program's wins from the previous season and won more conference games than the year before. In her second season, she doubled the roster size from seven to 14 players, bringing in nine new players including several freshmen who contributed extensively to the program.

Scouting Harris-Stowe
The Harris-Stowe Hornets come into the contest with a record of 0-1 after they fell to Indiana Institute of Technology in the opening game of the season. In 2009-10 the Hornets finished with a 2-27 record and a 1-15 mark in the AMC.

The Hornets do return a good nucleus from last year's squad. The team's top three scorers are all back for another year. Leading the way is Gwendelyn Ellis who averaged 13.54 points a game last season. Denisha Mitchel was second with an average of just over 10 points and Keyuana Bradshaw scored 10.25 a game.

These two teams will play twice this year with once game being at each school's home court.
The Hornets are coached by Dennis Griffen.

Last Time
This will be the first time in school history that the Lady Lions will take on the Lynx of Lindenwod-Belleville.

Up Next
After the first two games of the season the Lady Lions will take on the McKendree Bearcats at home at the Hyland Performance Arena. Then the team will take to the road for a match-up against Missouri Baptist.
