Lady Lions Bounce Back Saturday, Finish 2-2 at Quality Inn Classic

The Lindenwood women's volleyball team finished 2-2 at the Quality Classic Inn this past weekend in Columbia, Mo. The Lady Lions posted victories against Missouri Baptist and Wiley, and suffered losses to a pair of top 10 teams in Columbia and Texas-Brownsville.

Lindenwood defeated cross-town rival Missouri Baptist 26-24, 25-19, 19-25, 25-21. Ellen Fandry paced the Lady Lions with team-highs of 14 kills and 21 digs. It was her third double-double of the tournament.

Krista Yoder collected nine kills and Erin Anselman had seven. Kelsey Biggs logged 21 assists and Alexandria Malam had 19 helpers and three aces.

Alyssa Showers tallied 16 digs and Patricia Erb had 14. Yoder finished with seven blocks, and Kristy Dreisewerd and Victoria Krause each netted three apiece.

The Lady Lions concluded tournament play with a 25-23, 25-19, 25-22 win against Wiley. Yoder led the team with eight kills, and Fandry and Katie Weber each had seven apiece. Biggs recorded 33 assists and Malam had 30.

Erb collected 12 digs and Fandry added 11 to lead the defense. Megan Dillon posted a team-high five blocks, including three solo, and Weber had three.

Lindenwood opened tournament play with a 20-25, 25-12, 25-19, 25-22 loss to No. 8 Texas-Brownsville.

Fandry logged a team-best 13 kills, and Yoder added 12. Kelsey Kennedy tallied eight putaways. Malam netted 21 assists and Biggs had 14.

Showers recorded a season-high 26 digs, and Fandry had 19. Yoder and Dreisewerd each posted four blocks apiece.

Lindenwood continued its struggles against Columbia. The seventh-ranked Cougars swept the Lady Lions 25-22, 25-19, 25-23.

Fandry led the Lady Lions with 10 kills and Dreisewerd chipped in with seven. Biggs had a team-high 17 assists, and Malam added 10 helpers and the team's only ace.

Defensively, Showers netted a match-high 22 digs and Erb had 11. Weber tallied five solo blocks.

Lindenwood (5-4) will travel to Fayette, Mo. this Tuesday for its HAAC opener against Central Methodist.
