The Lindenwood Lady Lions basketball team extended its season long winning streak to four with a 66-53 win over the Central Methodist Eagles on Thursday night in St. Charles, Mo.
Four Lady Lions scored in double-figures led by Morgan Harrington's 17, which was the fourth straight game she has led the team. Kelly Albers pitched in with 15, and Abby Schultenhenrich and Sarah Schnieders each had 11. Lindenwood shot 47 percent from the field and 89 percent from the free throw line.
The game started with the Lady Lions missing their first eight of nine shots and trailed 9-2. Lindenwood eventually found its shooting touch, and went on a 12-2 run to take a four point lead. The home team would extend the lead up to six as the opening half came to a close.
The start of the second half began just the opposite of the first, with the Lady Lions making their first four out of five shots. The home team extended the lead to ten, with just over 16 minutes to play. Central Methodist got as close as four, but strong shooting from the free throw line closed out the win.
Lindenwood dominated the paint outscoring the Eagles 38-24. Central Methodist struggled shooting the ball all night compiling just 32 percent from the field and 18 percent from behind the arc. The Lady Lions held the advantage on the boards, outrebounding the Eagles 40-37.
With the win, the Lady Lions improve to 9-6 overall and 5-2 in HAAC play. Up next for the Lady Lions is a home game against the MidAmerica Nazarene Pioneers on Saturday.
