The Lindenwood Lady Lions picked up a very important 73-62 conference win over the visiting Baker Wildcats on Saturday afternoon.

The game started off quickly for the Lady Lions scoring just seconds into the game, and then took a four point lead. Baker tied the score with just over 16 minutes to play and that was the last time the Lady Lions did not hold the lead.

With the game tied, Lindenwood went on a 15-3 run to take a 12-point lead with 8:25 to play in the first half. The lead would extend to as many as 16 and the Lady Lions took a 15 point lead into the break.

Even though the Wildcats were trailing by a wide margin, they would not give in to the Lady Lions. Baker cut the Lady Lions lead to five after a 26-8 run to start the second half. With just under 10 minutes to play the lead got down to four, but the Lady Lions offense answered the Baker run with a 10-2 run of their own to extend the lead back to 12. Lindenwood closed the game out going six for six from the free throw line.

Lindenwood had one of its most balanced shooting days of the season. The team shot 46 percent from the field, 50 percent from behind the three-point line, and 90 percent from the free throw line. Lindenwood also won the battle of the boards outrebounding the Wildcats 34-29, and forced 20 turnovers.

All five of the Lady Lions starters scored in double figures led by Caroline Bourlioux, who scored 18 points, including a perfect 12 for 12 from the free throw line. Morgan Harrington pitched in with 16 points, while Kelly Albers scored 12, Sarah Schnieders had 11, and Abby Schultenhenrich scored 10. Christina Edwards led the team in rebounds with eight.

With the win, the Lady Lions improve their overall record to 13-7 and a conference mark of 9-3. Up next for Lindenwood is a game against the top team in the conference, Evangel, on Thursday night in St. Charles.
