Women's Volleyball Sweeps Both Opponents on Day Two Of Lindenwood Invitational

The Lindenwood women's volleyball team dominated its two opponents on day two of the Lindenwood Invitational. The Lady Lions held both McKendree and St. Francis under .100 hitting and they defeated both teams in three sets.

Lindenwood swept McKendree by scores of 25-14, 25-16, and 25-22. The Lady Lions had 28 more kills than the Bearcats. Lindenwood hit .310 for the match, compared to .081 for McKendree.

The Lady Lions scored on over half of their serve attempts against the Bearcats. Angela Cichelero led Lindenwood in this area as McKendree had a 25 percent sideout percentage on her serves. In the second set, Cichelero served nine straight points for the Lady Lions.

Kristy Dreisewerd, Katie Weber, and Erin Anselman all had double-figure kills. Emma Brydels led the team with 25 assists and Kelsey Biggs had 21. Kaila Schrimpf had 10 digs in just two sets, and Weber had a team-high three blocks.

In the team's final tournament match, Lindenwood trailed only one time in the entire match. St. Francis jumped out to a 2-1 lead in the first set, but the Lady Lions never trailed again in a 25-11, 25-11, 25-22 victory.

Lindenwood had 10 more kills, five more aces, five more blocks, and 11 fewer hitting errors in the game.

Weber led the Lady Lions with 14 points as she recorded a team-high 10 kills and three blocks. Biggs and Brydels each had a team-high 12 digs and the pair combined for 30 assists. Schrimpf added 11 digs, and Brydels and Weber each had two service aces.

Lindenwood improves to 10-7 on the season. The Lady Lions will look for win number eleven on Tuesday night when they host Quincy at 7 p.m.
