Volleyball head coach
Ron Young won his 600th match at Lindenwood on Wednesday night with a 3-0 victory over McKendree. With the win, Young has now won 296 victories on the women's side to go with 304 wins as the men's head coach.
Lindenwood took over the match in the first set. With the score tied at eight, the Lady Lions went on a 6-1 run and never looked back. Lindenwood hit .317 for the match and held McKendree under .200 hitting. The Lady Lions had nine more kills and five less hitting errors. Lindenwood also had five service aces and did not allow any.
The duo of
Erin Anselman and
Kristy Dreisewerd led the offense. Anselman had 11 kills, Dreisewerd had 10, and both players hit over .300.
Emma Brydels had a team-high 25 assists, and
Kaila Schrimpf had four service aces. Four players tied with six digs and
Katie Weber had two blocks.
Young hit the 600-win milestone in his 13th season as a head coach at Lindenwood, including his 10th as the women's head coach. He has led the women's team to seven conference championships and three NAIA National Tournaments. The men's squad advanced to 10 NAIA National Championship Tournaments under Young, and the Lions won the 2009 National Championship.
