Lady Lions Fall to NCAA Division I Southeast Missouri State

Box Score The Lindenwood Lady Lions travelled to NCAA Division I Southeast Missouri State on Saturday night and fell 66-56 in a hard fought game.

Lindenwood started off the game making its first two shots and jumped out to an early 5-0 lead. Unfortunately, that was the last time the Lady Lions were in front. Southeast came right back and answered Lindenwood's run with a 9-2 spurt to take the lead.

The Redhawks extended their lead to as many as eight in the opening half. Lindenwood closed the first 20 minutes scoring the final three points to cut the halftime deficit to just five.

Southeast Missouri scored the first basket of the second half, then the Lady Lions went on a 5-0 run capped off by a Morgan Harrington three-pointer to cut the lead to two. Southeast Missouri built the lead back up to nine on three separate occasions but Lindenwood did not go away.

The Lady Lions got within three two separate times but could not get over the hump. With just over five minutes to play, the home team went on a 14-3 run to put the game away.

Lindenwood shot just 34 percent from the field, but did shoot 43 percent from behind the three-point line. The Redhawks dominated the boards outrebounding the Lady Lions 43-33, including 16 offensive rebounds to just nine for Lindenwood.

Morgan Harrington had her best night of the season scoring a game-high 16 points. Sarah Schnieders chipped in with 12. Caroline Bourliox led the way with eight rebounds.

With the loss, the Lady Lions fall to 3-4 on the season. Lindenwood will have a week off before it takes on Harris-Stowe on Dec. 13.
