Men's Soccer Falls to Oakland City 4-2

Box Score The Lindenwood Lions dropped their record to 1-5 with a 4-2 loss against Oakland City University Friday evening in St. Charles.

Oakland City got on the board first with a goal by senior Adam Sell. The Oaks were awarded a free kick from 30 yards out, and the ball was played into a crowd of Lions and Oaks, when Sell was able to sneak the ball by Lions goalkeeper Reolid Sanz. The first half finished up with solid defense for both teams and the score remained 1-0.

The Lions answered back with a goal by Tiago Baptista Pereira in the second half. The goal was Pereira's first of the season, while Azeem Razwan picked up the assist. Ten minutes later, the Oaks broke the 1-1 tie on a goal by Chris Brind. In the 85th minute, the Oaks tallied on another goal scored by Ben Hosie. The Lions were able to score in the 88th minute putting the pressure back on the Oaks. Radomir Papric scored his first goal of the season with the assist going to Craig McTear. The final goal was scored when the Lions keeper missed a challenge at the 35 yard marker giving Oakland City's Nathan Andijanto an empty net goal to make the score 4-2 in favor of Oakland City.

Tonight's game was a physical one, with a total of seven yellow cards given out. For Lindenwood, McTear, Naser Mustafic, Hernan Gonzalez, and Daniel Arostegui Fernandez all received a yellow. The Lions played hard until the final whistle. The next game for the Lions will be September 21st at 7:30 p.m. when they go on the road to take on William Jewell.
