Lindenwood Makes Fewer Mistakes In Five-Set Win Over Missouri-St. Louis

For the second time this season, the Lindenwood and Missouri-St. Louis women's volleyball teams went to a fifth set during a match. This time, the Lady Lions prevailed by a 3-2 score on Wednesday night in St. Louis.

Lindenwood won the contest by scores of 19-25, 25-21, 25-20, 23-25, and 15-10. The Lady Lions took advantage of 33 hitting errors and nine service errors by the Tritons. Eight Missouri-St. Louis errors came in the fifth set, including six during an 8-1 run by Lindenwood to end the match.

Lindenwood hit over .200 for the match, over 50 points better than its loss to the Tritons earlier in the season. Both Ellen Fandry and Kristy Dreisewerd had double-figure kills and hit .375 or higher. Fandry had a team-high 17 kills and four aces, and also collected 19 digs. Dreisewerd had 12 kills on just 24 swings.

Emma Brydels and Kelsey Biggs both had double-doubles. Brydels finished with 22 assists and 11 digs, while Biggs had 25 assists and 11 digs. Kaila Schrimpf led the Lady Lions with 27 digs. Katie Weber had 10 kills and tied teammate Kelsey Kennedy for a team-best five blocks.

Lindenwood, which is now 6-5 on the season, has a short turnaround before its next match. The team hosts Maryville tomorrow night at Hyland Arena at 7 p.m.
