Women's Hockey Drops Series Finale Against No. 1 Badgers

The second women's hockey game between No. 1 Wisconsin and Lindenwood went much like the first. The Badgers controlled possession for most of the contest and won by a 13-0 score.

The Lady Lions struggled giving up goals in spurts and on the penalty kill. Lindenwood started strong thanks to some early saves by goalie Taylor Fairchild. The Badgers finally broke through at the 7:40 mark, and added two more in less than a minute and a half. Those were the only goals of the period as Wisconsin led 3-0 after 20 minutes.

In the second period, the Badgers scored four times, with two coming on the power play and two in the final 62 seconds of the period. Wisconsin scored six more goals in the third, with the final five coming in the final 10:11 of the period.

Wisconsin was four-of-five on the power play, while Lindenwood did not score on its one attempt. The Badgers outshot Lindenwood 72-3 for the game.

Fairchild finished the game with 59 saves. In her first weekend as a Lady Lions, she made 108 stops. Caitlyn Post had two of Lindenwood's three shots in the game. Alison Wickenheiser and Sarah Oliphant each blocked four shots, and Sydney Gorzitza had three blocks.

Lindenwood falls to 0-2-0 on the season. The Lady Lions will have a two-game series next weekend at Minnesota State Mankato.
