The Lindenwood men's tennis team defeated Missouri Baptist University yesterday by a dominating 9-0 margin in its third head-to-head competition of the season.
To start the match, the Lions eased by the Spartans in doubles competition. The duo of
Eric Tucoulou and
Rodrigo Traldi teamed up for an 8-1 win over Conner Stevenson and Drew Morris in the No. 1 match.
Gauthier Schilling partnered with Juan Vincenzio in the No. 2 match defeating Breon Saunders and Zack Schopp.
William Hale and Octavio Costa also won with an 8-3 score against Ian Furey and Nathan Stachowski in the No. 3 doubles match.
Competing in singles action, the men had half of their matches end in complete shut outs. Tucoulou beat Schopp 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Traldi downed Furey 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 while Schilling was also a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Saunders.
Hale posted a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Kirk Tass at the No. 4 match while the next two matches were shut outs for the Lions. Costa eased by Spartan freshmen Nick Thorburg, in a 6-0, 6-0 victory in the No. 5 and Vicenzio topped Connor Forbeck/Michael Witte in a blanking 6-0, 6-0 win in the No. 6 singles match of the day.
The Lions will travel to Bolivar, Mo. this weekend at the ITA Regional Tournament from Sept. 30-Oct. 2.
