Lady Lions Beat McKendree on the Road

Box Score The Lindenwood Lady Lions basketball team got 19 points from Marissa Lehnig and rolled to a 72 -61 win over the McKendree Bearcats on Thursday night in Lebanon, Ill.

The contest started with the two teams trading the lead back-and-forth four times in the first 10 minutes. But at the 10:23 mark, Morgan Harrington connected on a three-pointer to give the Lady Lions the lead and the team never looked back. Lindenwood never fell behind the Bearcats the rest of the way.

The first half ended with the Lady Lions leading 33-25. To start the final half, Lindenwood scored the first four points to extend the lead to 12. The Bearcats answered with a quick four-point spurt to cut the lead to eight, but that would be as close as McKendree got to the Lady Lions the rest of the way.

The Lady Lions shot 46 percent from the field and 85 percent from the free-throw line. Lindenwood forced McKendree into 19 turnovers and won the rebounding battle 36-35.

Lehnig led the Lady Lions in scoring with 19 points on six-of-nine shooting, and also compiled five steals. Caroline Bourlioux chipped in with 15 points while Harrington scored 10. Sarah Schnieders filled the stat sheet up with 13 points, five rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and three steals.

With the win the Lady Lions improve their record to 9-5 and have won their last three games. Lindenwood will be back in action Saturday afternoon against Urbana at the Hyland Arena with tip off set for 1 p.m.
