The Lindenwood women's basketball team fell to the No. 8 team in NCAA Division II on Saturday afternoon at Hyland Arena. The Lady Lions lost to Northeastern State by a 67-54 score.
The Lady Lions started off neck-and-neck with the Riverhawks until Lindenwood gave up a 13-1 run to give Northeastern State the advantage at 21-9. Lindenwood would cut into that deficit the rest of the half, but the Riverhawks would still go into the locker room with a 30-24 lead.
The second half started much like the first with Northeastern State extending its lead early on to 41-31. Lindenwood went on a little run and twice cut the deficit to five points, the last time at 44-39. The Lady Lions went cold from the field after that as they went nearly six minutes without a field goal. That allowed Northeastern State to pull away for the victory.
Julie Hlinek led Lindenwood with 13 points, followed by
Marissa Lehnig with 12, and
Morgan Harrington with 11.
Caroline Bourlioux finished with seven points and 12 rebounds, and
Sarah Schnieders had six points and nine boards.
The Lady Lions are now 10-7 on the season. Lindenwood wraps up its four-game homestand next Tuesday with a 7 p.m. game against Harris-Stowe.
